Charlestown Ambulance-Rescue Service (CARS) will continue under its current contract.
Objective of the Amendment: Question 14 proposes amending the Town Charter to ensure the continued provision of emergency medical services by EITHER a town department OR an appropriately licensed third-party vendor, such as CARS.
Maintaining Needed Services: CARS has been effective and reliable for the residents of Charlestown. Approving Question 14 will help solidify this relationship, ensuring that the high-quality services provided by CARS continue without interruption.
Long-Term Planning: This Charter amendment promotes long-term planning and security in emergency medical services, reinforcing the town's commitment to its residents' safety and well-being.
Public Oversight and Transparency: By approving Question 14, voters ensure that the provision of emergency medical services is transparent and accountable. The current agreement with CARS stems from public discussion and oversight, including a workshop meeting on 4/5/23, and two council meetings on 9/25/23 and 10/10/23.
Considering all these factors will help in making an informed decision on Question 14, ultimately aiming to maintain and secure the essential emergency medical services, currently provided by CARS, for the benefit of the community. |
