| Blood donations are down nearly 30%, leaving less than a two-day supply available, the lowest collection levels seen since the COVID-19 pandemic.
For those of us in EMS, this isn't just a statistic. Blood saves the lives of trauma patients, mothers experiencing severe bleeding, cancer patients, surgical patients, and countless others. When an emergency happens, there isn't time to make blood; it has to already be on the shelf.
